GROW FOR IMPACT

Operating Model & orgANISATIONAL Design

Organisations across Australia are facing increasing complexity — cost pressures, digital disruption, workforce capability gaps and shifting stakeholder expectations. A clear, fit-for-purpose operating model is no longer optional. It is essential for sustainable performance.

At Talent Ecology, we specialise in Operating Model Design, helping Boards, CEOs and HR leaders in mid-market enterprises reshape how their organisations work — structurally and operationally to realise customer value and the people promise.

Why Operating Model Design Matters

Australian organisations — particularly mid-market, NFP, membership bodies and growing enterprises — often experience:

  • Role duplication and unclear accountabilities
  • Escalating workforce costs without productivity gains
  • Decision bottlenecks and governance complexity
  • Poor alignment between strategy and execution
  • Integration challenges following mergers or growth

A well-designed operating model improves organisational clarity, workforce productivity, leadership alignment and cost efficiency.

We don’t just design the model — we help implement it. Our approach links operating model decisions directly to workforce impact, financial sustainability and measurable performance outcomes.

case study - operating model & Organisation design

Problem our client faced: Our client was experiencing poor performance, employees had a lack of role clarity, antiquated hr practices, tensions in ways of working and needed to uplift performance  to achieve strategy and performance aspirations

Solution: We were engaged to review the Operating Model and provide recommendations across the organisation.

Outcome: An aligned operating model to optimise performance with newly built capabilities in innovation and warehousing, marketing and communications and finance and strategic projects.  A new organisation design and compliant workforce transition practices. We then built new hr practices and assisted with appointing new team members into newly created roles.

Delivery Model: Embedded Partnership

Sector: Mechanical Trades

Size: National

the operating model - driving performance

Ever tried to drive a car with a flat tyre?

Regardless of how great the engine runs, if the tyre is flat, you're going nowhere.

Our holistic approach to Operating Model reviews each of the 8 elements of your operating model, looking at how they interact and influence performance.

We work with you to design your optimal operating model so that it is commercially aligned, workforce-enabled and built for the future.

As an integration partner, we can also support you to deliver the changes needed to get you on the road again.
